Top 10 Hackers of the World

at 4:43 AM Posted by MOBEEN MAJEED and HASSAN SOHAIL 2 comments
If the computer and internet has simplified our lives by the great conveniences that they provide, they have also bought about some devils with them too. As they say, nothing is perfect, so isn’t the internet. With all its greatness, people still are afraid of having their personal information stolen, their passwords changed, or even their website being completely taken over, all thanks to the hackers. Today, we have compiled a list of top 10 infamous hackers who for once astounded the worlds with their feats.

The codes allowed for decrypting of encrypted DVDs. His court case was the first to test the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Today, he owns a non-profit organization called the 2600 Enterprises, Inc. and publishes a magazine called 2600: The Hacker Quarterly.
In 2001, he took part in a demonstration against the jailing of Kevin Mitnick and in 2004 was arrested for videotaping the demonstration and was charged with disorderly conduct.

He was a student at Cornell when he set off the worm from MIT, from MIT so as to hide his tracks. According to Morris, he just wanted to know the number of computers connected to the internet. The unintentional damages caused by the worm ranged in between $20,000 to $530,000. Morris did community service for the damages and was set free.
Currently, he is a teacher in the field of computer science and electrical engineering at MIT.

No 8. Nahshon Even-Chaim

81 Top 10 Hackers of the World
He stands as the first Australian to be arrested and convicted of computer hacking in Australia. He was famously known as Phoenix. He was part of an Australian hacking team called The Realm. Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

at 4:08 AM Posted by MOBEEN MAJEED and HASSAN SOHAIL 0 comments
While being choosy about mice might seem more geeky than usual, but the fact is that high performance mice with huge DPIs can make a hell lot of difference to your gaming experience and can help you crop those parts of the image in photoshop that require micro-precision.

No 10. Saitek Cyborg Laser Gaming Mouse

101 550x391 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

This mouse with a good number of customizable options comes in at number 10. It allows you to change DPI profiles on the fly. While, initially you might find this mouse to be uncomfortable, but after a little while you would be glad that you gave this mouse some time to settle in.

No 9. Ideazon Reaper Edge Gaming Mouse

This mouse gives you five on the fly switchable DPI profiles and is a great mouse for gaming, with the only possible downside being the position of thumb buttons and its weight. Otherwise, this mouse features rubberized anti-slip grip and 20g acceleration for gaming domination. Capped with a $40 price tag, this is a fantastic mouse you would never regret buying.

An exclusive for righties perhaps; this is a quite accurate mouse that looks good and offers nice connectivity. It can also run on standard AAA batteries, apart from rechargeable ones, so that you are never left hanging in the balance in case of an emergency.

No 7. Logitech MX 518 High Performance Optical Gaming Mouse

72 550x487 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

This mouse too features on the fly DPI change and it doesn’t need some software for doing so, like some of the other mice in the list. It’s a comfortable mouse that offers lightning-fast response and mirror smooth tracking.

No 6. Microsoft Explorer Mouse (Wireless)

61 550x589 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

DPI

All 5

Although this mouse doesn’t have any DPI toggle button, it still is very a decent option for your money. It offers 4-way scrolling and its Bluetrack technology is better that optical and laser. It comes with a 3-year warranty and can work for weeks between recharges.

No 5.  Logitech MX1100 Cordless Laser Mouse

52 550x366 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

DPI

Upto 1600

Programmable buttons

10

A successor to MX Revolution, this mouse’s $80 price tag might be a bit too much, but infact, the mouse is worth all it costs. This is the most economical the Logitech could go, as it would seem, because the mouse lacks a recharging deck. Nevertheless, this is one great mouse that is comfortable and truly precise.

No 4. Razer Lachesis Gaming Mouse

The onboard memory means that you don’t need any special software on your PC to switch between different DPI profiles. The buttons on the mouse are responsive and comfortable to use. The 4000 DPI is legit and not any software artistry, making this mouse probably the best among the fleet of gaming mice.

No 3. Logitech G5 Laser Mouse

32 550x412 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

DPI

Upto 2000

Programmable buttons

Featuring on-the-fly DPI profile switching, this mouse from Logitech comes in at number 3. It has an excellent grip and is truly responsive. The only thing that some might not like is the little extra effort for middle-clicking, otherwise this is a great mouse for gaming and other general purposes.

No 2. Microsoft Habu Laser Gaming Mouse

21 550x412 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

DPI

Upto 2000

Programmable buttons

7

This Microsoft mouse is accurate, responsive, well designed and comfortable. Despite being a Microsoft product it is also compatible with Linux. This mouse comes with some powerful drivers and costs around $50.

No 1. Logitech G9 Laser Gaming Mouse

13 Top 10 Mice for Gamers and Designers

DPI

Upto 3200

Programmable buttons

5

This mouse has customizable weights and grips and probably has the most sensitive laser sensor available. Although the best mobile in our list is pricey (around $99), it is the best in the business and features an incredible scroll wheel, onboard memory and a 3 year warranty apart from the exceptional performance.

New Features Apple iOS4.2 – A Review

at 3:20 AM Posted by MOBEEN MAJEED and HASSAN SOHAIL 0 comments

iOS 4.2 roundupApple released the first beta version of iOS 4.2 yesterday, which is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad.

While this new release brings features likeAirPrint to the iPhone, the focus has undeniably been on the iPad, which will finally get iOS 4 features like multitasking and folder management that were available only for the iPhone and iPod Touch until now.
We explored a fair bit of new features in our article yesterday. Here is a roundup of a few more features that one may come across with iOS 4.2 on the iPad.

Multitasking:

iOs 4.2 also includes the much needed multitasking feature for the iPad, which will finally allow users to run some third party iPhone apps to run in the background.
Apple has distilled the services that need to run in the background and are providing those services as APIs to developers so that they can add multitasking support in their app while preserving battery life.
The seven multitasking services available to developers are: background audio, voice over IP (VoIP), background location, push notifications, local notifications, task completion, and fast app switching.
iPad users can access seven apps in the task switcher in landscape mode and six apps in portrait mode.
iOS 4.2 roundup

Folder Management:

iOS 4.2 finally brings Folder Management feature to iPad users. Users can add up to 20 apps to a folder thanks to iPad’s bigger screen.
You can currently add only 12 apps in case of the iPhone and iPodTouch. Here is a screengrab of how the folders on the iPad shall look like.
iOS 4.2 roundup

Universal Threaded Mail Application:

The mail app on the new iOS 4.2 beta comes with a universal inbox that aggregates messages from multiple email accounts. Users may also choose to view messages in a convenient threaded format.
iOS 4.2

Mute Switch:

The screen orientation lock switch on the iPad has now been repurposed to serve as the mute switch. With this, users may now access the screen orientation lock from within the multitasking tray. It is worth noting that original promos of the iPad in fact described the physical switch to serve as a mute button though it was reconfigured as a screen orientation switich when it was launched.
iOS 4.2 roundup

Game Center:

Apple’s social gaming network will make its debut on the iPad with iOS 4.2. The Game Center application makes use of the larger screen of the iPad to display a double-column view instead of the standard single column view of the iPhone. The left column contains the lists while the detailed view of stats shall appear on the right column.
iOS 4.2 roundup

New Fonts For Notes app:

If you are a frequent user of the Notes app, you will be happy to know that the new iOS version brings with it the ability to change fonts. Besides the original Marker Felt font, users can also choose between Helvetica and Chalkboard. Among these, Chalkboard is the new default font for the Notes application.
iOS 4.2 roundup

New Settings Options:

The iOS 4.2 Settings offers a number of new options and preferences. The Spotlight Search Preference pane lets users include search results based on a number of categories like Contacts, Applications, Music, Podcasts, Videos, Audiobooks, Notes, Mail and Events. Users can also set up new preferences to allow or disallow changes to location and mail account settings, toggle for spelling check and ability to set larger font sizes.

Search For Text On A Web page In Mobile Safari

Folks at TiPB have discovered a nifty little feature in iOS 4.2 Betathat was released yesterday to developers of iOS Developer Program.
Until now, it was not possible to search for text on Mobile Safari browser. You had to use workarounds such as bookmarklets orplugins to do the job. But with iOS 4.2, you will be able search for text on a webpage  directly from the search box.
iOS 4.2
iOS 4.2
I’m sure most of you will find this feature useful. It’s strange that it took Apple so much time to bring it to the iDevice.

New Default Lockscreen Keyboard:

If you have disabled the simple passcode feature in Settings and instead opted for an alphanumeric passcode, you will notice a different black-colored keyboard on the lockscreen. The keyboard itself is not new and has been available on iOS 3.2 as well. However, while the older version of iOS required users to manually enable the functionality on the configuration page, the new iOS 4.2 version enables this alternate keyboard by default on the lockscreen.

You can also checkout couple of video walkthroughs of iOS 4.2 on the iPad:

Steve Jobs had revealed at Apple’s September 1 special event that iOS 4.2 will be released in November

Cardiac Monitoring Goes Wireless

at 3:18 AM Posted by MOBEEN MAJEED and HASSAN SOHAIL 0 comments

Cardiac Tamponade Cardiac Monitoring Goes WirelessDoctors may soon be able to remotely monitor cardiac activity by simply implanting a micro-electromechanical sensor in post-surgery heart patients.

According to senior iSuppli researcher Richard Dixon, an implantable MEMS device with the potential to “revolutionize” cardiac care has already been designed and manufactured by an Atlanta-based company known as CardioMEMS.
“The CardioMEMS system features an implantable MEMS pressure sensor that monitors the heart for the tell-tale buildup of pressure in pulmonary arteries following cardiac surgery,” Dixon told TG Daily in an e-mailed statement.
“[It] includes signal processing electronics, a user interface and an antenna [which enables] the system to wirelessly communicate with the sensor and report data telemetrically (remotely) to a physician.
“The doctor can then adjust treatment as necessary – without hospitalization – yielding huge cost savings for patients and health providers alike.”
Dixon noted that unit sales potential for the CardioMEMS device is pegged to hit “several, tens of thousands by 2014,” while future shipments could eventually amount to hundreds of thousands, or even the low millions.?
“Still, at present, the only high-volume medical applications for MEMS consist of disposable blood pressure sensors costing $1 that are used during operations, or for respiratory monitoring pressure sensors that are non-disposable and command higher prices.
“In comparison, the specialist packaging and wireless transmission afforded by the pressure sensor used by CardioMEMS adds considerable value and will lead to a long-term market several times larger in revenue than that of disposable pressure sensors,” he added.
Wireless technology is rapidly being adopted in medical care. In the video below, Avera Medical Minute goes inside the Avera Heart Hospital to examine the new WiFi Telemetry System.

AMD Launches Triple and Quad-Core Notebook CPUs

at 3:16 AM Posted by MOBEEN MAJEED and HASSAN SOHAIL 0 comments

Playing catch-up with Intel, AMD has announced its first triple-core and quad-core laptop processors as part of a major brand overhaul. The lineup includes two triple-core and three quad-core Phenom II chips running at between 1.6GHz and 2.3GHz and drawing between 25 and 45W.

amd intros 99 quad core cpu AMD Launches Triple and Quad Core Notebook CPUsThere are also new single-core and dual-core low-voltage  Athlon II Neo and Turion II Neo processors designed for ultrathin laptops; running at speeds between 1.3GHz and 1.7GHz, they draw between 12 and 15W. These are aimed at laptops with screens between 11 and 13 inches and measuring less than 25mm thick. The chips are expected to appear in over 100 different products from vendors including HP, Dell and Lenovo, starting from the end of this month.
Emulating Intel’s Core range, the processors include DDR3 memory, HyperTransport 3, support for Direct X 11 and improved battery life. They don’t, however, include AMD’s TurboCore technology.  The company is also changing its marketing. It’s extending its Vision branding – which segments products into four levels by performance – to include desktop systems.
“With Vision Technology from AMD, we are finally connecting how people use their PCs with the way people purchase them,” said senior vice president and chief marketing officer Nigel Dessau.
“Today, after little more than 200 days in market, our partners are introducing more Vision-based PCs than ever before; a testament to both the competitiveness of AMD platform technology and the simplified marketing approach.”
AMD has failed to make ground against Intel’s dominance, with just 18.8 percent of the X86 market in the first quarter of this year, compared with Intel’s 81 percent, according to IDC.
Randy Allen (Corporate VP, Server and Workstation Division) discusses AMD’s superior quad-core processor architecture with the launch of the Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor (codenamed – Barcelona)

telenor talkshawl 24 fnf thumb Unlimited Free Calls to 3 FnF Numbers: TelenorAfter Mobilink’s Na-qabil-yaqeen offer, Telenor has offered its customers a similar treat to make unlimited calls to three friend and family numbers at a fixed daily rental of Rs.9.99 plus tax.

Telenor’s this offer comes with its TalkShawk 24 ghantay package, which is a pretty decent package for making calls to all networks at 80 paisas plus tax per 30 seconds. Little higher than counterparts, which are offering 68 paisas or even 65 paisas per 30 seconds for all networks.
Telenor’s this move, of following Mobilink, may push other operators to allow un-metered calls on selected numbers at a fixed daily rental.
However, cellular companies will have to keep an eye on their network’s strength before offering this kind of incentives.
So if you want to make free calls to 3 FnF numbers, switch to Talkshawk 24 ghantay package, following is the method:
How to Migrate to TalkShawk 24 Ghantay Package:

Ufone Introduces Full Time Mufta Offer

at 11:35 PM Posted by MOBEEN MAJEED and HASSAN SOHAIL 0 comments
Ufone Full Time Mufta Offer thumb Ufone Introduces Full Time Mufta OfferUfone has responded to Mobilink and Telenor against their recent unlimited calling offers on 3 on-net numbers at fixed rental of 6.99 and 9.99 plus taxes respectively.
Ufone has today offered this package called “Full Time Mufta Offer”, for its Uth customers, which will allow:
  • 9 AM to 12 AM: Calls to all Uth numbers are free after first minute
  • 12 AM to 9 AM: All calls to all Uth numbers are absolutely free (free calls will be charged 1 paisa per call)
Apparently, its a great offer, the only glitch is that both calling and receiving parties should be Uth subscribers.
Moreover, calls in the day are not free – though they are free after first minute, but liberty of unlimited free calling isn’t there. However, unlike Mobilink and Telenor, Ufone is offering freedom to call all Uth subscribers at this low rate.
It is understandable that Ufone couldn’t offer Free Unlimited calling to all Uth numbers – as Ufone can’t afford to chock its network.
Daily Rental:
Rs. 2 plus tax
How to Avail Full Time Mufta Offer:
  • dial *23# to get this offer working for you!
  • One time Subscription Charges: Rs. 20 plus tax
Terms and Conditions:
  • To subscribe this offer, one time subscription charges are Rs.20 + Tax
  • Daily charges are Rs. 2 + Tax
